Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status with his folk-based pop songs most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. Many people took the road to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular songs for his home state. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver was by far one of the top artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever to be inducted. Today, he is the face of Colorado on the world stage. Through my travels I've encountered individuals who are from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform that you're from Colorado the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the song, but Denver recognized that the song could be a huge hit after it was discovered that an earlier version. Danoff recorded the track within a couple of days after performing it to the awe-inspiring crowd on the streets of Washington D.C.
