Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado. He later settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. He is the face of Colorado for many people across the globe. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders, and they tell them "I am from Colorado" And they immediately respond with "Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with smaller folk groups. It was co-written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver knew from the first moment he listened to the early versions that the song would be a big hit. The singer recorded the song only a few days afterward after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
